Hi, I’m George Alex Fanfan (I go by Alex) and I joined the APEXA team as a Bilingual Client Support Specialist in the end of May 2022.

My journey to APEXA

Before joining APEXA, I studied Social Science at Vanier College with the goal of becoming a historian/archaeologist. Although I have temporarily shelved that plan to pursue a different career path, do not be surprised to see published books written by me in the future on the topic of ancient civilizations of the world, specifically Africa.

Before working for APEXA, I worked for Millennium1solutions at their Nespresso branch. I started simply as a coffee specialist who would answer customer phones calls that consisted of placing their orders, live troubleshooting of challenges with machines and past promotions redemptions. After working the phones for over a year, I became "Floor Support," a role tasked with providing assistance and solutions to my colleagues who needed help with customers and their inquiries. Ultimately, I became a "Training Specialist," showing new hires on various aspects of their new job with the company.

What I do in APEXA

My role in APEXA is to provide support to our clients when they have challenges with the platform. I help with a variety of challenges from in-trust related issues to contracting errors and anything else that relates to how our system functions. I provide clients with an easy-to-follow resolution that they can follow to resolve their challenge. Depending on the issue and client needs, I may also provide real time assistance through a virtual meeting where we can share screens and walk through the issue and resolution.

My go-to productivity trick

I will create a to-do list where all items are listed in order of priority. Then I break down each item into smaller components and focus simply on execution. By breaking down tasks in this fashion, I avoid being discouraged by the weight of the task or suffering “analysis paralysis” as we say. Lastly and most important, I meditate 10 minutes in the morning before my shift, calming my mind and soul allowing more focus and calmness.

My dream skill

More so a goal that I am working on, is to be more autodidact (a self-taught person). The ability to self-teach on any subject of interest and has professional relevance. It will aid in both my personal and professional growth, and help me bring more to the table in all future endeavors.

Away from work, you can find me here

When I am not assisting clients, I am either reading books or watching documentaries on the history of past civilizations (such as ancient Rome and Egypt), or the biographies of renown people such as Napoleon Bonaparte and John Rockefeller. Besides that, you can catch me on a basketball court shooting air balls LOL.
