Inside APEXA - ALYSSA VALILA-WHITE ENG

Hi, I’m Alyssa Valila-White and I joined the APEXA team as a Document Validator in December of 2022.

My journey to APEXA

My journey to Apexa started when I was quite a bit younger. I always took a special interest in English class. I absolutely adored reading, writing and editing, skills that have come in handy in my role at APEXA. In my teens, I was focused on learning everything I possibly could on my computer and spent time blogging and helping others, in the form of assisting my friends with their schoolwork. Although for personal reasons I dropped out of high school at age 16, I was determined and able to graduate at age 20. In addition to getting my diploma, I took a Mixed Media and Marketing program which I found quite fun.

As part of a decision to stay at home with my children, I held a few part time jobs from waitressing to being an in-home caregiver. I learned a lot from being a caregiver, including ensuring every piece of documentation is accurate.

I heard about the opportunity at APEXA when my youngest child started school. I was ecstatic for the opportunity to have a career where I am able to finally implement everything I have taught myself and learned over the years. It’s a pleasure to be able to work to my full potential, enjoy the work I am doing, have the flexibility to work from home, and to be part of a team that truly makes me feel valued.

What I do in APEXA

On a daily basis my team and I work together to meet the validation criteria approved by our client Advisory Board. We also send out invites to advisors to have background checks performed and upload the results to the APEXA platform.

When necessary, we communicate directly with advisors to correct errors or provide more information regarding why a document was rejected, and what is required to have it accepted. We also work with the Advisor Support team to help resolve any questions related to document rejections. As a team, we regularly review the AMF bulletin report to ensure that our system is updated appropriately for any advisors that may have had changes to their Quebec license status.

My go-to productivity trick

My go to productivity tricks are coffee, meditation, and words of affirmation.

My dream skill

If I had to pick a dream skill, it would be to have a photographic memory.

Away from work, you can find me here

Away from work, you can find me with my incredible fiancé, three wild yet wonderful children, 2 cats, our dog, and our hedgehog.

When we aren't working, we enjoy hiking, art, swimming, visiting my parent's cottage, road trips, playing with our animals, exploring, and playing games together.
